| SPRING
DAY
Dangling prisms refract comets of color and hope across stark walls of my kitchen and heart a frozen statue hidden behind red tulips Squirrels and jays battle at the feeder The phone death of a friend prayers for my daughter my husband's soft voice hope for a cancer patient birth of a baby I write letters essays a poem Late rays of sun slant through the window and form a golden orb of promise enveloping daffodils in a green bowl Light rests on forsythia reaching for joy from a vase in a comer of the room This beauty existed last spring but was unseen Today I taste peace Gerry Di Gesu |
