Lost Between Sedgwick Ave. & L.A by Joey Zapata.
No love on Sedgwick Ave. when Ls got shot Southside of the Bronx, someone’s heart is missing Cried many tears ‘til arrows flew L is for love but bullets for none
In East L.A., lost in a picture
A heart is painted black
The artist misses New York so he wants to bring it back
Remember, a bullet is a blazing arrow, take one to the mind
On Sedgwick Ave., even us Mexicans can find
Or found
Was I that artist that found love on the ground?
Take another L, chalk it up to bad luck
Stuck in L.A. with a black heart
Rhymes for reasons so what’s the reason for love?
Come back to New York wit’ a can of red paint
Paint me a new heart
Excuse me miss
I don’t see your name on the guest list
I guess your club is in the Bronx
If you’re still there, try to find my heart
Still stuck in L.A., trying to paint a heart
The same one that you’d take a part
Like 9 millimeters on the corner of Sedgwick Ave.
Remember, arrows are bullets, so love, squeeze the trigger
And paint my heart a deeper red
